Gift to the Council
The Council on African World Affairs relies on the private financial support of individuals, corporations and foundations in order to continue its operations. Since 2002, the community has met the challenge of financing the Council to assure our ongoing contributions back to the community's knowledge of African world affairs. Like other such educational institutions, including colleges and universities, the Council is a nonprofit organization and is in the process of qualifying for tax exemption under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In many cases most or all of a donation to the Council would be deductible for the purposes of the donor's federal income taxes. As in all cases, donors should consult their tax advisors or accountants regarding tax deductibility of donations. There are many ways to give to Council above and beyond the sponsorship level of membership.
The Council also welcomes gifts to support both new and existing program initiatives. Please contact Ms. B. Modupe Giwa for further information. You may do so through the Council's e-mail or correspondence address.
Please note the fair market value of each complimentary event you attend, as indicated on each invitation, as it may reduce the tax deductibility of your contribution. Fair marked value of general member programs is the member ticket price for the event. As in all cases, donors should consult their tax advisors or accountants regarding tax deductibility of donations.
